Anne Fowler Is Back To Gardening

66-year-old Anne Fowler is a wife, mother, and retired elementary school teacher from Garner, NC. On May 27, 2021, Anne began experiencing jaw and chest pain while working in her garden. Anne’s husband, Donald, immediately drove her to WakeMed Garner Hospital in Garner, NC.

Upon arrival in the ER, Anne began sweating profusely and vomiting. She was quickly transferred to WakeMed in Raleigh, NC, and rushed to the catheterization lab. Dr. Saroj Neupane identified that Anne was in cardiogenic shock and implanted the Impella CP® heart pump to support her weak heart before placing a stent. Anne remained on Impella® support for nearly three days until her heart function recovered and the pump was removed. She spent a total of two weeks in the hospital before returning home to her husband, Donald.

Today, Anne is back gardening and enjoying time with her family.
