Great-Grandmother Returns to Active Lifestyle Following Protected PCI with Impella®
Jeanne Eveslage is a mother, grandmother and great grandmother from Apache Junction, Arizona. Jeanne worked as a nurse anesthetist for 43 years in Minnesota before moving to Arizona. Although she has a family history of heart disease, Jeanne never experienced issues with her heart until February 2022, at age 87. She was referred to Dr. Amy Daliman after her cardiologist retired. When Dr. Daliman evaluated Jeanne’s heart, she identified a blockage and recommended Protected PCI with the Impella® heart pump. Two days before the scheduled procedure, Jeanne went to the emergency department at Banner Baywood Heart Hospital in Mesa, Arizona, after experiencing severe shoulder pain and shortness of breath.
She was sent to the catheterization lab where Dr. Daliman confirmed there was a blockage in her left main artery. Jeanne was evaluated by cardiac surgeons who determined she was too high-risk for open heart surgery.
Dr. Daliman then inserted Impella CP® to support Jeanne's weak heart before placing stents and restoring blood flow to her heart. She returned home the same day. Today, Jeanne is back to gardening and traveling with family and friends with normal heart function. She is grateful for Dr. Daliman and the exceptional care she received at Banner Baywood Heart Hospital.
