Stefan Pilz

Chief Commercial Officer

As chief commercial officer, Stefan Pilz oversees Abiomed’s global commercial organization, which includes US, EMEA, APAC and Japan sales and downstream regional marketing. Additionally, Stefan is responsible for the growth strategy, geographic expansion and market development in these geographies.

Stefan joined Abiomed in February 2016 as vice president, sales, EMEA. In April 2021, he was promoted to chief commercial officer, EMEA. Prior to Abiomed, Stefan led the commercial teams and distribution partners for HeartWare as area director, Western Europe. Within five years, he built the European organization and field team for HeartWare, increased revenue streams from 15 to over 100 million € and grew the market share from 15-80% in Europe. He also led the EU market development program and was responsible for partnering with key societies. Previously to joining HeartWare, Stefan worked for BIOTRONIK for seven years in various global and regional roles within the sales and marketing organization (Cardiac Rhythm Management & Vascular Intervention).
