Nonna Akopyan
VP, Board Attorney
Nonna Akopyan is vice president, board attorney, responsible for executing Abiomed’s global legal strategy. Previously, Nonna served as Abiomed’s vice president and chief intellectual property counsel. In that role, she was responsible for building global intellectual property strategy, including trademarks, copyrights and a robust patent portfolio for Abiomed’s products worldwide.
Prior to joining Abiomed in 2019, Nonna served as an intellectual property counsel at Novo Nordisk, responsible for counseling stakeholders and providing strategic legal advice on intellectual property matters. While at Novo Nordisk, Nonna also served as a senior counsel in general legal where she provided comprehensive legal support to the commercial organization as well as regulatory and compliance sectors.
Nonna holds a J.D. from Pace University Elizabeth Hubbard School of Law, and a bachelor’s in biology from Boston University.
