Indian Business Owner Back in Action After Impella™ Procedure
In Amritsar, in the northwest of India, Raj Kumar Sharma is a business owner, husband, and father to three grown children. During the summer of 2024, he started experiencing chest pains. He visited a local hospital, where his family was told little could be done to help him, apart from giving him some medicine. Seeking further guidance, the family connected with Dr. Rajneesh Kapoor, chairman of Interventional Cardiology at Medanta Hospital near Delhi, who confirmed that Mr. Sharma was in severe heart failure. Dr. Kapoor sought to restore the blood flow to Mr. Sharma's heart through an angioplasty procedure. But given that Mr. Sharma’s heart was in poor condition, Dr. Kapoor recommended using Impella to help maintain blood flow through the process. The angioplasty procedure went smoothly, and the Impella was removed shortly afterwards. Today, Mr. Sharma is back running his business and enjoying time with his vibrant family.
