The Impella® devices are minimally invasive catheter pumps that
can support the heart with up to 5.5 liters of blood per minute. The
pumps can be implanted percutaneously, via a cut-down, or in the
OR. The Impella® Mobile Console facilitates patient transport
in-house and to other hospitals for additional care. In Europe,
ABIOMED offers the Impella® minimally invasive
cardiovascular support systems under CE Mark approval.

Peripherally Introduced Impellas
The Impella® LP2.5 is an active left ventricular unloading catheter
that is implanted percutaneously, supporting and stabilizing the
heart in critical situations. It has been used
in European centers to support patients during high-risk PCI, post
PCI, AMI and cardiogenic shock. It can be used for up to 5 days.
Impella® LP5.0 is an intracardiac blood pump that is inserted
via a cut-down in the femoral artery. As a ventricular unloading
catheter, the Impella® LP5.0 supports the hemodynamically comprised
myocardium with up to 5.0 liters of blood per minute for up to 10 days.
Surgical Impellas
Impella® LD is the smallest available left ventricular unloading
device. Once surgically placed, it actively unloads the left ventricle,
pumping up to 5 liters of blood per minute, supporting the heart
for up to 10 days.
Impella® RD represents the smallest available fully implantable, right
ventricular unloading technology, weighing only 17 grams. Due to
its small size and the outstanding design, the pump is easy to implant.
The Impella® RD can deliver up to 5.5 liters of blood per minute
from the right atrium via the outlet graft into the pulmonary artery,
allowing the heart to rest and recover. It can also be used up to 10 days.
