Advanced Heart Failure1-4

Heart failure is a condition wherein a person’s heart is no longer strong enough to pump the blood necessary to meet the needs of the body. It is usually characterized by shortness of breath, trouble performing daily activities like running errands and house cleaning, and occasional chest pain, among others. Heart failure can be treated with medication and exercise.

Advanced heart failure is the progression of heart failure to the point where the person experiences shortness of breath even at rest, and medications prescribed are no longer able to help with worsening symptoms.
